It was a year of excruciating pain that NOTHING would help!\u00a0 I tried ice, heat, all kinds of creams, and of course, massage.<\/p>\n<p>I saw an orthopedic doctor, had x-rays done twice, both times showed that the bone was not cracked. and it didn\u2019t change if I propped it up or stood on it.\u00a0 Absolutely nothing gave relief!<\/p>\n<p>There are many reasons for heel pain, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Achilles tendonitis<\/li>\n<li>Bursitis<\/li>\n<li>Heel spur<\/li>\n<li>Plantar fasciitis<\/li>\n<li>And lots more!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each of these can be caused by tight muscles of the lower leg, and if you have any of them you would be well to look into muscles to eliminate the pain.<\/p>\n<p>But the heel pain that plagued me for a year was literally a bruise to my heel bone. All the muscles were just fine, and nothing showed up on either of the x-rays my doctor performed.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>What You Need To Know About Bone Bruises<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chaneyhealth.com\/healthtips\/relief-from-hip-and-knee-pain\/julie-donnelly-headshot\/#main\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3632\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3632\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chaneyhealth.com\/healthtips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/julie-donnelly-headshot.jpg\" alt=\"Julie Donnelly\" width=\"195\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a>This month\u2019s newsletter is meant to give you a heads-up on something I hope you\u2019ll never experience.<\/p>\n<p>I want to talk about bone bruises because it could happen to any bone in your body, and the odds are slim that anyone will ever consider it when you are searching for a solution to pain.<\/p>\n<p>The bones most vulnerable to bruising are ones that are not protected by muscles.\u00a0 This can include your shoulder, elbow, sacrum, knee, and of course, your foot. It\u2019s normally caused by a blunt force injury, such as falling on a hard surface, but with a strong enough impact, other bones can also become bruised.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019ve been to my office, and I\u2019ve taught you self-treatments to continue your therapy at home, you\u2019ve received the Perfect Ball that I use for therapy.<\/p>\n<p>I frequently hear people say they have been treating their arch, or other joints, with a lacrosse ball.\u00a0 That\u2019s a terrible ball because it\u2019s so hard it could easily bruise the bone.\u00a0 A baseball is another terrible treatment ball, for the same reason.<\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t have a Perfect Ball, I suggest you use a tennis ball.\u00a0 A tennis ball won\u2019t bruise your bone, and while the Perfect Ball is much better, the tennis ball is at least an acceptable alternative if necessary.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>What Not To Do If You Have A Bone Bruise<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chaneyhealth.com\/healthtips\/what-is-nutrigenomics\/thumbs-down-symbol\/#main\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3554\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3554\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chaneyhealth.com\/healthtips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/thumbs-down-symbol.jpg\" alt=\"thumbs down symbol\" width=\"202\" height=\"208\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chaneyhealth.com\/healthtips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/thumbs-down-symbol.jpg 202w, https:\/\/www.chaneyhealth.com\/healthtips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/thumbs-down-symbol-50x50.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 202px) 100vw, 202px\" \/><\/a>Two years ago, I was having a tug-of-war with a big vine that was growing up the tree in my yard.\u00a0 It was a really stubborn vine and was very strong.<\/p>\n<p>But I was determined!\u00a0 I finally won \u2013 but at the cost of going flying down onto the cement driveway, landing squarely on my shoulder. Bad move!<\/p>\n<p>The pain was terrible, and I had a problem moving my arm normally.\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t my smartest move, and since I could move my arm (painfully), I decided the bone wasn\u2019t broken. As a result, I compounded it by not going straight to a doctor. Another \u201cnot smart\u201d move.<\/p>\n<p>I used ice, massaged the muscles, and strapped my arm to my body so I wouldn\u2019t use my shoulder.\u00a0 When it still hurt two weeks later, I finally decided I should have it looked at by a physician.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, the bone wasn\u2019t broken. However, it was severely bruised.\u00a0 Ice helped to block the pain messages to my brain, but the bruise needed to heal on its own. It took almost six months before it was completely gone.<\/p>\n<p>Having lived through it, I strongly suggest you go to your physician ASAP and get an x-ray to make sure nothing is broken.
