I must be pretty lucky because when I was a kid, we used to always find them in the grass).<\/li>\n<li>The color of St. Patrick\u2019s Day was originally blue.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li>There are 34.7 million U.S. residents with Irish ancestry. This number is more than seven times the population of Ireland itself<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li>The real St. Patrick wasn\u2019t Irish. He was born in Britain around A.D. 390 to an aristocratic Christian family<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li>Patrick never got canonized by a pope, making his saintly status somewhat questionable.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"9\">\n<li>The world\u2019s shortest St. Patrick\u2019s Day parade is held in an Irish village. It lasts only 100 yards, between the village\u2019s two pubs.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"10\">\n<li>1962 marked the first time Chicago dyed their river green for St Patrick\u2019s Day.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Your Questions Answered<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>I have so many people asking me questions about the cause of their aches and pains that I\u2019ve decided to add a new section to this newsletter \u2013 it\u2019s a Q&amp;A section where you can send in a question and I\u2019ll pick one each month to answer.\u00a0 I\u2019ll explore the most logical cause of the pain and tell you where in my books you can find the self-treatment to eliminate it quickly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q:\u00a0 <\/strong>When I yawn or chew my jaw clicks, close to my ear.\u00a0 I can feel the bones rubbing together.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been told it may be TMJ.\u00a0 What do you think?<\/p>\n<p><strong>A: <\/strong>I agree that it is most likely TMJ.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chaneyhealth.com\/healthtips\/tmj-pain-treatment-your-masseter-muscle\/tmj-pain-treatment-relief\/#main\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3530\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-3530\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chaneyhealth.com\/healthtips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/tmj-pain-treatment-relief.jpg\" alt=\"tmj pain treatment relief\" width=\"179\" height=\"239\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you press your three middle fingers into your cheeks, right where your back teeth meet, and then clench your teeth, you\u2019ll feel the muscle bulge.\u00a0 The name of the muscle is Masseter and it goes from your cheek bones (above your top back teeth) to your jaw line (below your lower back teeth.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When you chew, you are contracting that muscle, and you lengthen it as you open your mouth wide to put food into your mouth. Chewing gum or clenching your teeth contracts the muscle without the opposite movement of opening your mouth wide.\u00a0 As a result, it\u2019s being repetitively strained, and the body reacts by shortening the muscle fibers. This causes your jaw to shift over to the side of the shortened muscle each time you try to open your mouth.<\/p>\n<p>The clicking you are feeling is the bones rubbing across each other because the muscle is too tight to allow your jaw to open correctly.\u00a0 This can potentially cause real problems in your jaw, but fortunately it\u2019s simple to reverse.<\/p>\n<p>The treatment is shown on page 52-53 in <em>Treat Yourself to Pain Free Living.\u00a0 <\/em>Most times you can reverse the problem after just 2-3 self-treatments.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">What Causes Pain Between Your Shoulder Blades?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>I had to solve a mystery in my office. A client was complaining of a pain between her shoulder blades, and after looking at the usual muscles (Rhomboids) I needed to do some detective work. It\u2019s a little confusing, but if you visualize it while you\u2019re reading it will help a lot.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chaneyhealth.com\/healthtips\/?attachment_id=3849#main\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3849\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-3849\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chaneyhealth.com\/healthtips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Rhomboid-Muscles-300x250.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chaneyhealth.com\/healthtips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Rhomboid-Muscles-300x250.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.chaneyhealth.com\/healthtips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Rhomboid-Muscles.jpg 414w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Your rhomboids attach to the medial border of your scapula (between your shoulder blades).\u00a0 When they contract normally, they pull your shoulder blades in toward your spine.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chaneyhealth.com\/healthtips\/?attachment_id=3850#main\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3850\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3850\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chaneyhealth.com\/healthtips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Pectoralis-Muscles-251x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"251\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chaneyhealth.com\/healthtips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Pectoralis-Muscles-251x300.jpg 251w, https:\/\/www.chaneyhealth.com\/healthtips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Pectoralis-Muscles.jpg 306w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 251px) 100vw, 251px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Your pectoralis minor muscle is in your chest, originating on your ribs and inserting into a small part of your shoulder blade (scapula), called the coracoid process.\u00a0 When the pecs minor contacts normally it pulls on your scapula, moving your shoulder forward and rounding out your back.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what was happening to my client.<\/p>\n<p>When your pecs minor is pulling your scapula forward it\u2019s causing your rhomboids to be pulled up toward your head.\u00a0 This isn\u2019t a movement that works well for the rhomboids, so they go into a spasm, or at the very least they are over-stretched, and you feel the pull on the bone.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Relief From Pain Between Your Shoulder Blades<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chaneyhealth.com\/healthtips\/?attachment_id=3854#main\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3854\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3854 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chaneyhealth.com\/healthtips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Treatment-For-Tight-Pectoralis-Muscle-e1583868661776-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chaneyhealth.com\/healthtips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Treatment-For-Tight-Pectoralis-Muscle-e1583868661776-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.chaneyhealth.com\/healthtips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Treatment-For-Tight-Pectoralis-Muscle-e1583868661776.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a>Simply releasing the tight pectoralis minor muscles allowed her shoulder blade to return to its proper location and the strain was taken off her rhomboids.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Looking at the pictures, begin by placing a ball on the front of your chest, just below your shoulder.\u00a0 Basically, it is where your fingers are when you do the Pledge of Allegiance. Lean into a wall and bend your legs so you move the ball up and down on the muscle.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You can also squeeze the muscle by putting your fingertips into your armpit and your thumb in the same place as the location of the ball as shown in the picture.\u00a0 Squeeze the muscle and pull down toward the floor as you are squeezing.
